Maple Leaf Quilting Company Ltd. has an immediate opening for a Sewing and Longarm Machine Technician.

What This Position Actually Entails: 

Position: Sewing Machine Technician

Location: Cochrane, Alberta

Mission: The mission of the Maple Leaf Quilting Company Ltd. Sewing Machine Technician is to conduct equipment repair and provide preventative maintenance to machinery.  We work on all makes and models of sewing, quilting and embroidery machines. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers to complete repair work in a timely and accurate manner.  This role will be hands-on, and training will be provided.  The position will start at approximately 30 hours per week, with the potential to move up to Full-Time, based on business volume and the needs of the company.

Responsibility

  • Conduct equipment repair and preventative maintenance for machinery
  • Read drawings, diagrams and repair manuals, as well as online help tools
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronics and mechanical equipment
  • Order parts and keep inventory of parts as needed to maintain the service department
  • Consult with customers to determine best course of action for each individual machine service. Timely communication is imperative for optimal service levels
  • Required to work a varying work schedule in order to meet the needs of the business. This would include working some evenings and weekends during high volume times
  • Answering the phone in polite and professional manner
  • From time-to-time, you will be required to use the retail point of sale system to process customer payments
  • Attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, good work ethic and reliable attendance is a must
  • Keep work area clean and presentable
  • Strong team player
  • This job involves sitting or standing for long periods of time
  • From time-to-time, this job may include travel across western Canada for service calls or delivery or of longarm quilting machines
  • Travel to various destinations in Canada or the USA for training may be required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 2 - 3 years of experience in a related area of employment
  • Able to lift up to 50 to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to work with or without direct supervision 
  • Familiarity with sewing and quilting machines is a bonus, but not a requirement, when applying for this position
  • We will train the right person

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to pass a Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Canadian Passport

Wages will be comparable with sewing machine repair job postings within Alberta depending on experience.
