Beginner Quilting Workshop – From Sewing to Quilt Top

Ready to take the leap from sewing into the world of quilting but not sure where to begin? This beginner-friendly quilting workshop is the perfect place to start.

Tula Pink gives you an inspiring quilt block collection with Tula Pink's City Sampler. Make a beautiful, modern quilt of your own design with the 100 original quilt blocks or try one of the 5 city-themed sampler quilts designed by Tula.

Over 12 in-depth classes, you’ll learn how to create 100 different modern quilt blocks and assemble them into a beautiful quilt top from start to finish. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills and confidence to design and create quilts in any size using these same techniques.

As a bonus, students will have the option to have their quilt professionally longarm quilted at a discounted rate once the top is complete.

• Quilting basics and terminology

• How to accurately cut out fabric
  
• How to follow a pattern

• Colour placement

• How to create unity across your quilt top using different coloured fabrics with multiple prints

• Accurate cutting and piecing techniques

• How to construct 100 unique quilt blocks

• Quilt layout and assembly

• Confidence to create future quilts in any size

Homework will be assigned between classes to help build skills and keep you on track.

• Dates: 12 classes total, 1 per each month in 2027, alternating Wednesdays & Saturdays

• Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• January  6, February 6, March 3, April 10, May 5, June 5, July 7, August 7, September 8, October 2, November 3 & December 4

• Sewing machine, foot pedal, and power cord (in good working order)

• 18" x 24" cutting mat

• Rotary cutter

• Minimum 24" ruler

• Pins

• Scissors

• Seam gauge

• Pressing mat and iron

• 1/4" seam foot

• Coordinating thread and fabric

• Individual appointments will be setup before the New Year to determine fabric requirements, layouts etc.
