But keep this in mind: without regular maintenance your sewing machine may not perform up to quality standards. How often should you schedule a maintenance appointment? That all depends on how you use your sewing machine. As a general rule, we recommend that you take your machine for a general service and tune-up once a year. If you are the only one who uses your sewing machine and you only sew occasionally, you may not need servicing as often.
However, if you sew or quilt weekly or daily (on your own projects or if you are in business and earn your income from sewing professionally) you should ensure that your machine receives a high-quality maintenance and service check at least once a year. This will enable the equipment to work for you when you need it.
Remember: this machine was purchased so it can work for YOU, not the other way around! A good quality sewing machine—traditional, embroidery, or serger; new or old; used often or only occasionally—will sew impeccably for many years if it is given proper care.
